Tim brings exceptional experience, knowledge and insight to Think Beyond in his new part-time role as Global Advisor. One of the UK’s foremost sport administrators he has spent the past 20 years in senior leadership positions across public, private and third sector organisations with significant international engagement.

Having started his sport career at the high performance agency UK Sport, where he was first Director of Policy & Communications and then Chief Operating Officer, Tim became the Chief Executive of the British Paralympic Association in July 2011. He served in that role for seven years, becoming a leading global figure in the development of the Paralympic movement and overseeing the BPA’s commercial and operational transformation in the UK. His time in post also covered his serving as Secretary General for ParalympicsGB at four summer and winter Paralympic Games including both London 2012 and Rio 2016. At the latter Games ParalympicsGB set a modern-day record with 147 medals won, including 64 golds, finishing 2nd on the medal table.

In November 2018 Tim left to become the Chief Executive of Sport England, the government agency responsible for grassroots and community sport and activity in England. Responsible for the strategic investment of over £300m a year of National Lottery and exchequer funding, he oversaw the creation, launch and implementation of the revolutionary “Uniting the Movement” strategy as well as guiding the organization and sector through the Covid 19 Pandemic. Over the period of his tenure activity rates for both adults and children rose to their highest ever levels.

He left Sport England in July 2025. Last September he was made Professor of Practice (Sport) at the University of Bath. He is also currently Vice Chair of the British Paralympic Association, a member of the Board of the National Paralympic Heritage Trust and of the Komedia Comedy and Arts Centre in Bath.

He has previously served as a Board member of the Youth Sport Trust, the Football Foundation and the University of Bath. He holds Honorary Degrees from both the University of Bath and University of Exeter and in 2017 was awarded an OBE for Services to Sport.
