Ed Hubbard

Senior Director, Social Impact

Brief info

Ed is an expert in designing strategies and programmes that maximise the positive impact of sport and physical activity. After spending the early years of his career working and training in project management for major multinationals, Ed has worked across the sport and physical activity landscape for over 9 years, helping organisations deliver and evidence value and long-term sustainability.

Ed is particularly passionate about using qualitative and quantitative data and insight to prove the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have in changing lives. By building this into monitoring and evaluation frameworks and strategy design from the beginning, Ed specialises in building the case for ongoing investment in physical activity, continuing to drive social and environmental change and improvement. He has undergone trianing as an SROI practitioner with Social Value UK and has worked extensively in the area of social value, especially across National Governing Bodies and the health and fitness sector.

Using skills in facilitation, strategic planning and impact measurement, Ed has led projects on behalf of the UK Government, Sport England, multiple National Governing Bodies of Sport and major-event rights holders, as well as some of the most influential brands in sport.

Key projects have included leading the sports and physical activity workstream of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Evaluation, writing the legacy and MEL plan for LIMA 2019 Pan-American Games, as well as leading the Moving Communities project on behalf of Sport England, which uses data and insight to measure the impact and social value delivered through the UK’s public and private leisure sector.

Ed is currently working across the LIV Golf, IOC and Canadian Tire projects at Think Beyond.
