Showcasing 11th Hour Racing Team’s leadership across sustainability in sport and inspiring positive action amongst global sports fans and sailing and coastal communities, through an industry-leading impact report.
The Challenge
Sustainability is at the core of 11th Hour Racing Team. Having kick-started a four-year campaign in 2019 to achieve a climate-positive outcome by the end of The Ocean Race in 2023 and reduce their greenhouse gases (GHGs) by 20% across all areas of operation, 11th Hour Racing Team needed to show how and what they had achieved. The Team sought the support of Think Beyond to showcase how the team is delivering on its mission to run a high-performance racing team with sustainability at the core of all its operations and to inspire long-lasting change for ocean health.
The Solution
Think Beyond created a digital-first, interactive report. Our job was to help 11th Hour Racing Team demonstrate their progress, provide accountability, close the feedback loop with their stakeholders, and most importantly drive continuous improvement within the industry by evaluating their performance,
The impact report helped detail the specific methods, key learnings, and innovations, as well as the setbacks and challenges the team faced in their quest to become the most sustainable sports team.
Our work encompassed analysis of data from their 4-year campaign, copywriting and designing the report.
We produced an online, interactive report that engages the reader through an audio-visual led approach, empowering other organisations to enact sustainable change.
You can view the final report here.
The Impact
- The report is a leading example of how a sports organisation can go beyond simply reporting for reporting's sake to producing something that has the objective of inspiring, challenging and sharing learnings with the industry around it.
- It’s been integral to showing the sports industry how a sports team can put sustainability at the heart of everything they do, and still achieve the highest levels of performance in sport.
- It has cemented their leadership in this space, provided actionable learnings for others to adopt, and set the bar for sustainable progress across sports.
- The impact report helped communicate the achievements of the 11th Hour Racing Team and it played an important part in the team being awarded World Sailing's 2023 Team of the Year.
What Our Client Says
“Our mission isn’t just to create a high-performance sports team – it’s to create an operation that has sustainability at the core of everything it does, sharing innovations across sport, and inspiring positive action for ocean health amongst global sports fans.
“This Impact Report allows us to be transparent with our reporting methods, and we hope it inspires change across both the marine sector and sport as a whole. The support from Think Beyond to produce this, alongside our busy workflows, has been critical. We’re now going through a process of adjusting our own goals and targets as we look at the next paradigm shifts we can apply to our industry and operations.”
