British Horseracing Authority selects Think Beyond and Substance to quantify the social value of horseracing

Think Beyond is partnering with Substance to support The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) on a new project that aims to quantify the social value created by the sport of horseracing.

Following the launch of a new social impact strategy, which outlines an industry-wide approach to enhancing the sport’s positive impact on people and society, the BHA has enlisted Think Beyond and Substance to build a robust framework for understanding and measuring positive outcomes.

The multi-phase project, with an initial timeline through the end of 2025, will involve engagement with stakeholders, developing a transparent methodology, and a rigorous focus on real-world impact.

“British racing is an industry that is committed to having a positive impact and there is already a significant amount of vital work taking place across the country that is making a real difference in our communities,” says Tom Baker, Head of Social Impact at the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).

“Our new strategy builds on these strong foundations to help ensure we can have an even greater impact, and it is crucial that we are able to quantify the social value created by horseracing. These results can play a critical role in shaping public perception, helping the sport secure new partners, and influence decision-makers by demonstrating the full impact of the sport,” adds Baker.

We look forward to working together to power positive change and showcase the true value of horseracing to society.
